BURNS SUPPER SUCCESS!

ELDERPARK and Linthouse Housing Associations held a hugely-successful Burns Supper which brought the community together to celebrate the Bard.

Held at Elderpark Community Centre, It was the eighth year the supper was laid on for tenants and the first time Linthouse and Elderpark organised it jointly.

The event took the form of a traditional celebration of Burns with the star attraction of the haggis being piped in while those attending were impressed by the much-anticipated recitals including the “Toast to the Lassies”

Following the meal, complete with neeps and tatties, the evening was rounded off with live entertainment and dancing fulfilling the objective of bringing people together for a memorable night out.

Elderpark Housing Officer Lynn Reid said: “Celebrating Burns Night is an important occasion for the community we serve and something we all look forward to each year. It was a real team effort and was undoubtedly a night to remember.”

Irene Campbell, Chief Executive of Linthouse Housing Association added: “We hope everyone enjoyed themselves in what was a wonderful community occasion. Both housing associations recognise the importance of companionship and togetherness – especially for some of our more isolated or vulnerable tenants – and we hope the Burns Supper was enjoyed by them all.”

*Special thanks goes to local young people who work closely in Govan with the charity Aberlour who once again served the meals and took such good care of those attending.
